If you can't tell its Blu-tac

Nice. Well, for those on ArcGIS 10, there is built-in functionality to do this. Open the Layer Properties dialog box > Fields tab. Click the field and set the Highlight property to Yes. This will make it stand out in places like the attribute table and the Attributes and Identify windows.

Currently, it is only yellow. You can contact Esri Support or post this enhancement suggestion at ideas.arcgis.com.

Also available, by default I believe, in ArcGIS 9xx
