Problems with multiple editors

First let me say that I am brand new to running ArcSDE.

My problem is that I have recently attempted to set up a versioned geodatabase so that we can have multiple people doing concurrent edits. It looks like all the computers in the office can make connections to the geodatabase and its versions fine either through a database server connection or a direct database connection but only one can make edits at any time. All the others who try to edit get a "Could not edit the data in the folder or database you selected" error. As long as only one person is in editing mode then it works just fine.

Any help is greatly appreciated

Hi Sean

Are you using ArcSDE for SQLServer Express? There are 2 types of geodatabases for SQL Server Express - I suspect you are using the first one:
- ArcGIS Desktop allows 4 concurrent connections but only 1 editor at a time
- ArcGIS Server Workgroup license then your version allows 10 connections all of which can be editors

What are database servers in ArcGIS?
