Whenever I try to make an edit to a feature class stored on our SDE, I get an error telling me.
'The requested operation is invalid on a closed state'
What do I need to do to avoid getting this error? My feature class is registered as versioned.
Thankks

Yes, if the database version is not a supported one for Desktop 10.2.x, then you could be facing this issue.
In case you would like to check later, here is a link:

Unable to Edit 9.3.1 SDE with 10.2
What is the version of your sde geodatabase?
Which Database version are you using? (SQL Server 2008 R2, SQL Server 2012, Oracle 11.2.0.3, etc)
I think we are still using ArcSDE version 10.0. I think we were supposed to migrate over two weeks ago. lol
Is that the reason why I get the error?
Not really...sde 10.0 geodatabase is compatible with Desktop 10.2.x.
Client and geodatabase compatibility:

However, the version of your Database (SQL Server 2008 R2, SQL Server 2012, Oracle 11.2.0.3, etc) might be causing this issue.
Can you please confirm which database version you are using?
I'm not sure what SQL database version we are running over here but if that could be causing the error then that is probably why
