Requesting to add native support for reading in spatial data from Snowflake. We do "big data" analytics of data warehouses, which are within analytic databases like Vertica and Snowflake. With this being a growing market, it makes sense to add supported databases to the esri platform to support users like us.
Vertica idea was posted last year: Add Vertica as a Supported Database
Our org is leaning on snowflake too. Enabling us to surface this data through the ESRI Rest API would be a game changer for us.
The ESRI documentation has guidance for building Geodatabases in multiple relational databases. We have a growing need to be able to use Snowflake as a supported database and, hopefully, be able to build an enterprise geodatabase to support ESRI and other GIS platforms. Having ESRI add Snowflake as a supported DB will be critical to that effort.
This is implemented in ArcGIS Pro 2.9. See Ideas in ArcGIS Pro 2.9 or go directly to 4:33 in the video.
Is there any plan for Esri to add windows authentication /active directory as an option for connection to the snowflake database?
Currently, only user authentication is available and our org does not allow for individual user accounts outside of AD to reach Snowflake.
