How can I edit my own post in Esri Community?

Since a while I can't edit my own posts and answers anymore. I cannot find edit or delete actions on the page. This (and the poor editor, i.e., no Markdown) is one of the reason why I prefer to use StackExchange and other forums. Editor aside, why can't I edit my posts anymore?

Hi @TimoT, I've checked on your account and believe I know why you're running into this issue. When an Esri Community account is first created it's given the role of Registered User. This role has a limited set of capabilities as a spam prevention measure—including that it can't edit its own posts. 24 hours after a new account posts for the first time, our system automatically updates their role to Active User. This role is given additional permissions, including being able to edit its own posts. You should see that you're able to start making those types of edits and use the Private Message feature within a day from now when your role updates. All the best!

Hi @MariusVerdes, I've just verified your account so that you'll now be able to delete your own posts so long as they don't have responses or comments from others on them. Once other members leave responses or comments, you would need to check with our team directly about the removal of a post since doing so would remove others' content as well and we have guidelines in place regarding when and how that can happen. All the best!

HI @JesseCloutier, Thanks for the quick response. Unfortunately, I am not able to delete my latest question posted in the Experience Builder community. Can you please have a look? or contact me via message?

My apologies, @MariusVerdes, I misspoke on that permission. As a member with the Active User role, you have permission to edit your own post but not delete it. I was able to locate your most recent question post: 'Table Widget - Horizontal scroll' and have archived that. If you have any questions, please let me know!

@JesseCloutier I am running into the same issue: no problem posting new posts, but no longer the ability to edit my own posts. Can you fix this? Honestly, I think ESRI should do an overall review of all users that lost their editing rights here in the community by whatever hickup that may have caused it.

Sorry for the inconvenience, @MarcoBoeringa. I've identified and resolved the issue that was preventing you from editing your own posts. Would you try again when you have a moment? To your point about conducting a review, there are a few factors that control permissions in Esri Community and not everyone in this thread has experienced the same root cause, though I can certainly understand it may look that way as new comments are added here over time. Our team is happy to address those issues directly in this conversation as we can, or via email at esricommunity@esri.com
