We are currently in the process of migrating to the Utility Network within our development environment. Our current Geometric Network workflow involves field crews taking GPS shots of all assets added in the field. Editors on desktop with then create GN Features by snapping to those GPS points and adding in Water Lines as needed. In our UN pilot we are finding ourselves unable to snap to these GPS points. With the snapping options display the following message:
Clicking the learn more the following is given on snapping:
What we want to know is, is possible to snap to Non-UN features? We aren't seeing anything that has shown us we can outside of the following article:
How to Perform Snap Geometry Edits With Utility Network Connectivity Rules
Which just offers some solutions to the problem using the ArcGIS Maps SDK for .Net but we are hoping we don't have to go the route of some custom editing tools.
We also tried creating a connectivity association between our GPS Points feature class and our Water Device feature class but as the GPS Points are not UN features this is not allowed.
Any insights, other user experiences, or solutions would be greatly appreciated.
What version of ArcGIS Pro are you using? This exact workflow (snapping UN features to GPS points) is covered in one of our online tutorials that was first written in 3.3, then updated to 3.5: Get started with ArcGIS Utility Network for water | Documentation. If you follow the steps in that tutorial, does it work?
