Issue with Utility Network Topology Validation – Structure Junction Subtype Error

Hi Everyone,

Hi Everyone,

Has anyone encountered this issue before and could offer some guidance?

After setting up the Utility Network, I started adding data and ran into a problem during topology validation.

Even though I correctly assigned the Asset Group and Asset Type for all Structure Junctions, I receive the following error when I run Validate Topology:

"23: The subtype or the discriminator are out of range or the combination is invalid."

I tried selecting the affected Structure Junction and reassigning the Asset Group and Asset Type, but the error persists.

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Are there any other errors or unvalidated edits on the feature?

I would also like to know how this asset type was added to the UN?  What steps.

I first set up the Utility Network architecture by creating an asset group for each structure, and then defined domains to set the required asset types. For example, I defined a Structure Junction subtype called Tower, and created domains for this subtype with appropriate codes and descriptions (one of them is Telecom Tower).

Is that what you were asking?

Did you happen to enable the topology, then add an asset type to the existing domain?

I don't see any other issue besides that. I tried adding a structure line as well, but it did not cause any error. The error encountered was Error 8: Invalid connectivity – No junction-edge rule. I suspect this is occurring because a previously added Structure Junction has not been assigned an Asset Group and Asset Type. Otherwise, I have already created the junction-edge rules between different structure junctions and structure lines.

@Aika_gis this latest comment confuses me. Can you include screenshots of the features and errors? If you force the features to be validated (using the full extent) does this resolve the issue?

So far, I’ve created both Structure Junction and Structure Line features. However, the system seems unable to read the subtype assigned to the Structure Junction. Interestingly, this issue does not occur with Structure Line — there’s no Error 23 reported for it.
Given this, can I assume that Error 8: Invalid connectivity – No junction-edge rule is caused by the system failing to recognize the subtype for Structure Junction? Please refer to the Validation Inspector results, which show that both Asset Group and Asset Type are correctly set. Also, the Junction-Edge rules between Structure Line and Structure Junction have been created.

if you force the features to be validated, does this clear the errors? if not, please log a case with support to see what is happening.
