Assign domain to field for a network feature class fails and shows “The domain is required by the utility network and cannot be modified.” Although the network topology wasn’t initially enabled.

What could be the issue here?

This is by design. You cannot modify the AssetType domain on AssetGroup 0 (Unknown)

What about the requirement of Assigning domains to the asset type field (for configuring a utility network & enabling the topology)?

It keeps showing this error even for new subtypes (other than unknown).

Another thing, it accepted to remove the assigned AssetType domain from AssetGroup 0 (Unknown) for a feature class but again it refused to reassign the domain & showed this same error.

What do you think about this?

Best,

Alaa

Hi there, if you have enabled the network topology you will not be able to assign a domain. try to remove the domain and see how it goes.

The network topology is not enabled!

I'll try it again.
