Repeated Login Prompts When Already Signed In

My users are being repeatedly prompted to login to Survey123.  This occurs when they tap to submit a survey.  They do not get presented with the Survey Completed dialog.  Instead, they get a green screen asking them to log back in, only they have been logged in.  At this point they can't do anything other than close survey123.  When they reopen, they have to log back in.  They could be fine for hours or only minutes before they are again prompted to log in in the middle of submitting a survey.  There doesn't appear to be any rhyme or reason as to why/when this happens.  It is not isolated to just one survey.  It happens on multiple surveys.  One thing that is the same is the survey is opened via a hyperlink in Field Maps.  However, I have several workflows that user the Field Maps to Survey123 workflow via a hyperlink and not all of them experience this.  Any ideas a to what might be causing this and how to fix it?  Thanks!

Found this thread because I am having the same issue! No help yet but I have a support case open. I know they're logged in because their name is pulled into a technician field correctly, but they are prompted to sign in on sending the survey. After they do, the app is stuck on loading until they force close, reopen, and sign in again. Have you been able to get any diagnostic logs of this happening?

I hadn't heard from any of my field guys in a while so I was hoping the issue went away but I just got a call yesterday they are still experiencing this issue.  They are going to attempt to bring me an iPad where this issue is happening so I can contact technical support.  

Did technical support provide any kind of info as to why this is occurring?  I can't imagine we are the only two people with this issue.

No answers from support yet, they are trying to troubleshoot and recreate the issue. I haven't been able to recreate it myself or find any kind of pattern for when it happens but I will stay active in this thread if I learn anything! 

I was able to get a log and for now they said nothing stood out. I saw a bunch of repeated instances of:

but I'm not sure what to make of this

I have received a bug number from ESRI. BUG-000177163: Users are intermittently getting logged out of the ArcGIS Survey123 field app or fail to submit surveys due to token expiration when survey form is launched from another app (e.g. Field Maps, Workforce). Severity is marked as critical but the status is under consideration.

Thanks for providing this information!  Hopefully they will fix this.  I would hate to think my users have to continue to go through this indefinitely.

I submitted a bug for this back in 2024.  We are using Enterprise Portal with IWA authentication.  The issue showed up when moving from Survey123 version 3.18->3.19.  Luckily we had some older versions floating around to test which did not exhibit the behavior. I have been hounding these guys to get this fixed as it has been significantly affecting my organization and frustrating the field members.  The only work around I've found is to simply save your surveys to the outbox and then submit them all at once.  Atleast then the user only has to login once to send in a days work.

BUG-000164878 -The ArcGIS Survey123 field app requires the Portal for ArcGIS Integrated Windows Authentication (IWA) account member to re-login after submitting the survey

FYI Earlier this year when i reached out to support they advised me to upgrade our Portal from 11.2 to the latest in order to determine if this fixes the issue (even though they can replicate it on their side but for some reason still lean on me to test).  I upgrade from 11.2->11.4, issue still present.  11.4->11.5 issue still present.  Its a Survey123 problem.
