I would like to see an option in "Survey123 Connect/XLSForm" to add the ability to dynamically display the number of characters remaining in a text question so that survey users are aware of the question text space limit. I imagine something very similar to what one sees when authoring a tweet in Twitter?
Hello Joe,
Thank you for submitting this idea and including the clear screenshot of the request. Could you provide an example of the type of question you'd include in your survey where a character count would be beneficial? Would this be for very short answers where you're looking for one or two words from the user, or longer responses where they may need to be more succinct?
Thanks,
Scott
Scott, thank you for your query.
My request is a generic one. No matter the length of the space reserved for the question, I think that it would be nice to have the option to dynamically display to the user how many allocated characters are remaining. For survey questions with little space allocated, it would be even more beneficial.
Related to this question, does the character limit include spaces? For example in a text-based answer, limited to 500 characters.
Thank you.
It looks like this functionality is only for new features, not when editing an existing feature. Could this functionality be added for surveys that edit existing faetures via globalid? see https://community.esri.com/t5/arcgis-survey123-questions/web-form-repeats-character-counts-and-field... specifically @wayfaringrob 's comment(s).
