We are interested in using the split screen approach in Quick Capture where we could draw a quick polygon (with a fingertip or stylus using the imagery basemap) instead of streaming one.  We need to draw quick polygons that are offset from our current location.  Is/will that functionality be available in the future?

Hi Amy,

This is not currently in our product plan as the idea of QuickCapture is to allow quick data capture at the push of a button. Have you considered using other apps more suited to this workflow, such as Collector or Survey123? Both of these apps allow the digitization of lines and polygons.

Please share a bit more about your workflow and why you think QuickCapture is the most suitable choice.

Thanks

John

Hi Johnathan,

Just to add to the conversation a bit, but I'll defer to Amy as she has a very good understanding of the full requirements.

Please share a bit more about your workflow and why you think QuickCapture is the most suitable choice.

Basic Requirements:

1. Map viewer & attribute entry on same screen layout. No hoping between pages or tabs.

2. Hotkeys as the attribute entry method.

3. Ability to draw points, lines or polygons.

4. onComplete of any draw feature action, click a hotkey to assign the attribute value to that feature.

5. Operate in a disconnected state and upon established connection, update each/all feature services.

Have you considered using other apps more suited to this workflow, such as Collector or Survey123?

Yes! However, both of these apps do not meet requirement #1 or #2 listed above.

As you can tell, we seem to fall right between existing solutions of QuickCapture & Survey123/Collector.

Thanks for any response and info you provide!

Take care,

James

Thanks James. This is useful.

Give us some time to think about this.

Hi Ismael,

Any update to the above idea?  We are now in the final stages of researching/selecting the app(s) that would meet the requirements listed above in James Crandall's post.  I have read about the Field Maps app but I still believe we were closer to accomplishing our complete project goals with the split screen tablet view in Quick Capture.  The only functionality missing is the ability to draw a polygon offset from the location of the device. ismael chivite

Thank you.

Hi Amy

This feature is still in our backlog and won't be in 1.6. We are waiting on an update to ArcGIS Runtime that will help us support this feature. What are your timelines for the project?

Thanks

John

Thank you Johnathan.  The project is ongoing so we need to get the customer a new solution as soon as possible.  This is because their current solution is a product called GeoLink that is failing due to Windows updates and the software not being upgraded.  They map exotic vegetation species from a helicopter which is why they need to draw polygons of areas with infestations that are never right below the helicopter, and the collection of data must be very quick as they are flying fast to cover huge areas along transects with each flight. Each time they fly with the antiquated GeoLink system, they run the risk of the software not working and wasting thousands of dollars in helicopter time/gas.ismael chiviteJohnathan Hasthorpeismael chivite

Ideally, we would like to have the same polygon draw tool from Survey123 as a way to take our polygon in Quick Capture.
