Hello everyone,

I am currently facing an issue where I am unable to adjust the layer order in ArcGIS Pro. Here's a brief overview of the situation:

  • I am working in the Map tab and have already clicked on the Drawing Order button to enable layer order adjustments.
  • Despite this, I am unable to drag layers up or down in the Contents pane to adjust their order.
  • I also tried creating a new project, but the problem persists, and I still cannot reorder the layers.
  • My ArcGIS Pro version is 3.4.2.

If anyone has encountered a similar issue or has a solution for this, I would greatly appreciate your help. Thank you in advance!

Tried uninstalling update KB5051987 but that didn't work either.  I'm using ArcGIS Pro 3.4.0.

What worked for me was unplugging any additional monitors on my laptop, restart the laptop, reorder the layers on my laptop screen, plug back in the additional monitors.

Hello DanielFox1,

There is no easy way to uninstall that update.  Windows will let me uninstall two other updates: KB5050577 and KB5051987, but there isn't an option to uninstall KB5050094.  I'm guessing this is a Windows 11 issue.  I did disable "Get the lastest updates..." so hopefully no future issues.  Not sure what to do.

Thanks for finding a solution that may work for some.  I just started having this issue, and I haven't updated my ArcGIS Pro recently.  I am currently on 3.3.2 and the Esri update service is temporarily unavailable.  I also do not have the update KB5050094.

What works for me is to drag my window onto my laptop monitor and I can reorder layers there.  I just cannot do it on my external monitor.  I wonder what's changed recently...

That worked for me too!

Seemed to work for me as well.  I didn't unplug my external monitors though.

Facing a similar challenge. Tried uninstalling the KB5050094 update but it keeps reinstalling itself after restarting the computer. All attempts to change Windows update behaviour fail as KB5050094 keeps coming back.

Seen other people report a similar issue with software like Premiere Pro and tracked down this hack about changing the resolution for a multi-monitor setup. It works for ArcGIS Pro too but working with 100% scaling on a 4K monitor (which was set at 150% before) is not the most comfortable. Changing the scaling for the other display to match what's comfortable on the higher resolution monitor isn't that terrible but@DanielFox1, any other workarounds?

I have the same issue - very frustrating!  I don't have KB5050094  available to uninstall.  I also can't drag layers across to the geoprocessing panel.
I have found the only temporary workaround is to move the map to my primary monitor, which isn't ideal.

maybe try unplug additional monitors?
