I have a MTN bike trail polyline, I want to add points at various locations where there are known hazards, double track, reference points et cetera. I then want to know the distance to those points so that I can build a strategy for riders. I thought I could use a measure tool but it will not follow a polyline in the curves. Is there a easy to use tool that someone knows about?
Scott-
You might create the points then add a field for how you want the lines split (Line Field) and in what order (Sort Field). Then run this tool and label the output lines by length!

If you think of your points as features of interest and your trail as a route, then the easy-ish tool to use is Locate Features Along Routes
Easy-ish in that, in the big scheme of things, it's very straightforward, but if linear referencing is new to you, then you have some reading or YouTubing to do first.
