Map Starts Spinning When I Hit CTRL

Hey there, I am on ArcPro 3.5.2 with the 3.5.4 patch.

While in ArcPro, often when I hit Control (Ctrl) the map will start rotating with no end. I can usually get it to stop by hitting escape. then I need to reorient the map with the navigator tool. However as soon as I hit Ctrl again it starts all over. It is very frustrating! Is anyone else experiencing this? If so is it a bug? Is there a solution to it? I have closed and opened many times.

Much thanks,

Dylan

Hey @DylanSchuyler

I would try using this to see if it may be a stuck key, I doubt it but may as well try keyboardtester.com/tester.html Just make sure you hit Control while testing.

I'm not seeing a bug just yet, so you could definitely be the first! I would recommend checking the keyboard, see if you can recreate with a colleague, and then try to reinstall ArcGIS Pro, finally if none work, create a ticket ad let Esri know!

Hey Cody, Thanks for the response.

I tested the Keyboard and it looks to be working fine. I will try to uninstall and reinstall at the next chance I get.

Thanks.

Hello @DylanSchuyler , if you hover over your Map and press the V key, the cursor will change into a round arrow, and you can use the mouse to rotate the Map. Is that what you are seeing, or is it something else ?

Thanks for the reply, it is not. The cursor does not change. Simply when I hit the Ctrl key (only occasionally) every couple weeks-month the map will start spinning endlessly. unless i hit escape. (however then the ui is totally inoperable and i need to restart the program.

Are you able to capture a video of this behaviour ?

I will try the next time it happens.

Another thing that happens to my supervisor which is similar but slightly different is while he is working his map will zoom Way Way Way out. to the point where he can never zoom back into the right scale. same thing, only happens very occasionally and he just needs to restart the program.

That looks to be very disorientating !

- What process are you carrying out to see the Yellow Pointing Hand cursor ?

- Is your data 3D or M aware  etc ?

- Do you have Sticky Keys turned On ?

Windows Settings > Accessibility > Keyboard.
