Hi

I am new  to using ArcGis and wanted some help on creating track lines.

I have survey data of marine mammal sightings with their coordinates which I have plotted onto the map. However, I have coordinates for start and end time so do I have to plot these separately. Also how do I then create track lines from the point data . Thankyou

When I've had to do this I used the Points to Line geoprocessing tool as shown below. The trick is to know how to distinguish each track (the line field) - for instance, i've had to concatenate a couple of fields to clearly distinguish between different events. Then sort by using either the start or end time fields, you may have to play with that a little to determine which is the best to use. If its a point you have collected for an observation, this may be trivial and just using the start time would be a good approach.

Ok thankyou. I just was not sure what I write in line field and sort field as I have latitude and longitude but they are start and end so did not know which to use
