Is there a way to create a Feature Template from a .stylex where the symbol name becomes the attribute?

Hi Caroline,

Can you please expand a bit on what your requirements are?

Thanks!

Scott

Hi Scott, thanks for your reply.

I'm putting together a Style that eventuelly will consist of about 1800 symbols divided up into different categories. To make these symbols easily accessible for the users I would like to turn the Style into one or more Feature Templates/Layer Template like the ones on the Insert tab and accessible from the Create Features window. For example the symbols in the Style.png should become selectable templates in the Create Feature window.

Add on question: Is it possible to modify the layer templates on the Insert tab?

Hi Caroline,

Feature Templates are based on layers, so if you have layers in the map that are symbolized using your style, the templates will reflect that.

Some finer details: If your layer is symbolized using unique values, each of the symbol classes will be available as a feature template that corresponds to a particular field and its value. From there, you can further customize a particular feature template's properties to override attributes.

Some info here: https://doc.arcgis.com/en/arcgis-online/manage-data/manage-feature-templates.htm

Once you author your layers and templates, you might want to share them with your colleagues using a project template.

Does that help?

Thanks,

Scott
