Can somebody help? Let's say I have a line that goes across a United States polygon layer. Is there a tool that can clip/split the line whenever it crosses a state boundary? Ex. If a line goes from Colorado through Utah, Nevada, and California-- the result would be 4 segments.

The Split "modify features" tool is too manual as I have thousands of lines to edit and the Clip tool only works if I'm going inside and outside of a polygon.  Am I missing something?

Thanks.

Use Intersect tool to intersect your lines with the States polygons.
