When I add data to ArcGIS Pro I get a Windows error message (image below) about a faulty MSVCR100.dll. I can open up projects that I created using Pro v1.1, but if I try to add data to the project it will crash. After creating a new project in version 1.2, as soon as I try to add data the program will crash. My manager and my computers were both built last November with the same specs and his computer runs Pro without any issues.
My Internet/GeoNet searches haven't resulted with anyone having similar issues. If anyone could help me out with this it would be greatly appreciated.
Things I have tried:
I have uninstalled and reinstalled ArcGIS Pro 1.2. I had originally updated from 1.1 using the ArcGIS Pro updater.
I have updated my graphics card drivers.
I deleted my C:\Users\<user profile>\appdata\local\esri folder.
Computer Specs:
Windows 7 Professional
Graphics Card NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970
Processor i7-4790 3.6 GHz
RAM 16 GB

Mike
did you check hardware specs?
ArcGIS Pro 1.2 system requirements—ArcGIS Pro | ArcGIS for Desktop
Hi Dan,
I have checked all the specs and my PC falls within the recommended/optimal range for hardware.
Also for software I have Microsoft .NET 4.5.2 and IE v11 installed.
Cheers,
Mike
out of ideas, except for the windows 7 thing, but I would have a look around ArcGIS for Desktop Installation support in case someone has posted over there, but I haven't seen that error for an msvrc file in a while
Always a good idea to update your graphics adapter drivers when you run into things. A good way to check to see if this is the issue is to go into your windows devices, disable your graphic adapters and you will get a generic 640x480 screen. Try to launch Pro in your tiny screen and add data. If you don't get a crash the graphics driver is a reasonable suspect.
Hi Curtis,
I disabled my display adapter and launched Pro. Unfortunately the program still crashed with the same error message after adding data. The graphics card drivers are all up to date though.
On the plus side the screen size reminded me of using computers in the early 90's..
Well, at least we now know it's not the display adapter!
Dan, Thank you for your suggestions, and referring this to the Desktop Install. Cheers!
The message about MSVCR100.dll makes me wonder about .dll hell -- i.e. some other program installed a version of this resource that Pro doesn't like. Unfortunately, a repair install usually would solve or at least identify these issues. I would take this to tech support, they may be able to help you out.
Thanks Curtis, I think you are right. I will escalate this up to tech support, and post back if I get a solution.
