I often run several geoprocessing tools in a row, and my natural inclination is to press the "back button" on the geoprocessing pane, to take me back to the root of the geoprocessing pane.  Sometimes this works, but often it takes me to a different pane.  This is frustrating.

However, reading online, other folks prefer the current functionality (ESRI actually changed the functionality to be this way based on user preferences).  I believe the that “Back” arrow in the Geoprocessing pane is navigation history–based, not hierarchy–based. It behaves like a browser back button, not a “return to root search” button.

My idea is to allow the user to change the functionality based on their preference.  Go into the Options, select the appropriate toggle (History or Hierarchy) and the back button will operate accordingly.

Thanks to @DrewFlater for recommending I submit this idea.  Others have had similar requests but usually requesting it to be one way or the other.
