Select geoprocessing tab, unwanted tool is selected, hit back arrow and end up in history?

Question

Sometimes, when I select the geoprocessing tab, a previously used tool is open. When I select the back arrow, I end up in the history tab. I want to get back to the geoprocessing tools and away from the currently selected tool. Is there a way to do this directly? Not the biggest problem, but I frequently wish I could just get the full suite of tools without this double-step.

Previously used tool in geoprocessing tab:

Select back arrow and end up in 'history' Then I need to select the geoprocessing tab a second time.

I do too, and in that order. Great minds 🙂 There is a thing that happens and I don't suppose it's worth too much heartburn, where if you run a tool, and then go to a different panel, and then return to the geoprocessing tab, the recently run tool is presented. You hit 'back' and it goes to history because that is where the results of the tool are kept. I don't know if 'bug' is the right word, but it seems awkward. If you are in the geoprocessing pane and hit the back arrow, you should still be in the geoprocessing pane. Anyway, I appreciate your input. I think loading the geoprocessing tool in quick access gets it to work as desired.

I always have the Geoprocessing pane open as a side panel, if that makes a difference.

Interesting. If I save the 'tools' icon from the analysis group, it is reliable upon selection. ALWAYS shows me a list of tools:
