Join existing map to external CSV

Hello, I am pretty sure this can be done but so far I have not found the right answer. 

I have a map that has about 200 records in it. Each record was georeferenced and has a unique ID

The data behind the unique ID changes regularly in a CSV file. I was wanting to just update the existing records in the map with the new data for each unique ID. 

Is there a way to join the unique ID for each record to an external CSV file?

Otherwise you should be able to update your data using the ID field through the append tool.
