Issue with publishing a Feature Service

Hi all,

I have been trying to publish a hosted Feature Service based on a local data frame using ArcMap 10.1's "Share As/Service" feature (following the tutorial at http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/arcgisonline/index.html#//010q00000087000000 ). Though, the service appears in "My Contents" (as a Service Definition, is that correct?) it is not published or accesible in any way (I have been trying to access it from GeoEvent Processor Beta). When I try to publish it manually (through the Item view's "Publish" button), I get an error message "Invalid tenant Id Invalid tenant login".

Publishing the same local data frame to my own ArcGIS Server 10.1 instance works. The TileService for the same data frame works as well. I am currently using the 30-day trial subscription, could this be an issue?

Thanks in advance,
Matthes

From your description, it sounds like you might not be signing in to ArcGIS Online correctly.
First, what version of desktop are you running? You need ArcGIS for Desktop 10.1 or greater.
From the File menu of ArcMap, there's an option to sign in to ArcGIS Online. This is where you sign in.
Once signed in, from the File menu, choose Share as. Step through the wizard and publish to "My hosted services"

Hopefully this solves your problem.

Thanks,

I think I'm posting to the correct forum thread...

We have an ArcGIS Online organizational account, have had it about a year now, can't publish feature services to account in the last few months. I didn't think anything of it then because other work became more important but now am still having the same issue and need my feature services to publish there.

--can publish tile services ok
--server side post-processing fails
--my error window says "Packaging succeeded, publishing failed"
--there are no <null> values in my feature data, no dashes in my file name, no Samba running on my Windows 7
--using ArcGIS 10.1 SP 1.
--nothing I know of has changed in the Windows environment since the last time I was able to publish with no problem and I am publishing these the same way: sign in thru ArcMap, choose Share As Service, same parameters in Service Editor window.
--let me know if you'd like my customer number, thanks.  Would like to get this working TODAY!  lol.

Nancy,

You do have enough credits and your subscription hasn't expired, right? You can check the status on the My Organization page.
You are only publishing a hosted feature service from desktop and have disabled the map service option?
How much data are you trying to publish? Does it fail with a small dataset too?

Instead of publishing directly from desktop, you might try the option to "Save a service definition file" instead of "Publish a service". You do the same steps, but instead end up with a Service Definition (SD) file on disk. You can then go to ArcGIS.com and do an Add Item from My Content and browse for this file. Make not of how big the SD file is on disk. You will run into file upload limitations of a browser. If the file size is less than 256mb you're probably ok.

Unfortunately, with this kind of issue, it may be better to contact Esri Technical support. It's very difficult to debug through the forums.

Thanks,

Mike
