I followed this blog post to configure custom templates for printing in Map Viewer and Instant Apps: https://www.esri.com/arcgis-blog/products/arcgis-online/mapping/print-from-layout-items/. This feature is currently only available in beta, and will consume credits once out of beta. It is also only available for Professional and Professional Plus user types.
I'm wondering if there is any more information about how many credits this will consume? Also if there is a roadmap/consideration for support in Experience Builder and with other user types besides Professional and Professional Plus.
Printing a custom layout template is a huge ask within my company. I don't want to make any promises/take the steps towards development if a) no one in my organization can use it and b) it will drain our credits.
Good questions. I've avoided even looking at trying this out because it wouldn't be worth it without being able to offer it to all our users. As a Professional or Professional+, my staple is Pro for map making. WebMap exports really is suited for Creators (and Mobile Workers) so makes sense to offer it to them.
Interesting to see comments on the blog post asking the same questions have gone unanswered.
My exact thoughts! I would of course use Pro! But other people in my organization don't have Pro, nor do they know how to use Pro to create maps. I've built a web app with a whole collection of data from different sources for people to do initial "gut checks" on sites for development. People have been asking for years if they can print a PDF with our company title block, but until this new beta release that was not possible. If custom print isn't available for all users with minuscule credit usage, it's not worth it.
