Our organization is starting to go through and fully catalogue what we have stored in AGOL. We have several older web applications and layers that we would like to keep just for the historical record. As we mark our files as Authoritative / Deprecated, is there any way to have this automatically update this information in the metadata as well?
Hey @Charlie_Kaufman
This post here references way to update the metadata using the ArcGIS API for Python here:
The original poster seems to want to upload from XML to this, if you're wanting to just do it automatically then this may work best for you!

I appreciate the response. That is close to what I need. However, I admit that I have an environmental science background so to me Pythons are very large snakes. 😁
I am just really hopeful that there would be some sort of an update to the metadata as soon as the user hits the Authoritative / Deprecated toggle on the settings tab.
Hey @Charlie_Kaufman
It seems Python takes many names! Especially since it was pulled as a reference to Monty Python which was a surprise to me, I thought it was for the snake!
I would suggest in this case possibly creating an Idea on the Enterprise forums: Enterprise Ideas This way it could draw attention to it and if it's not doing what's intended, they may be able to open a bug report regarding the problem! If you create an idea be sure to link it back here and I'll kudo it!

Thanks for the input. I submitted my idea.
