It would be great if we had the ability to export or download layers that were created from using the Sketch Tool. The tool is good for visualization but my team needs the ability to share these sketches with each other for use in ArcGIS Pro, Desktop, and Earth.

Workflow would be something like Draw shape(s) using the Sketch Tool >> Export or download sketch layer as shapefile/KML/CSV/etc.

Just chiming in again here to pile on the comments. The feature we're asking for is essentially one of the bread-and-butter features of Google Earth. Draw a line or polygon, measure associated distances and areas, export as kml for other workflows.

We had an ask to do something similar to help members of the public with an application process.  A small number of applicants don't have access to a drafter or GIS person and need to submit a line to us to complete the application.  Right now they mark up a pdf map but it would be much nicer if they could sketch the location and include the .shp like all the other applicants to make the process more consistent.

Not a perfect solution but close enough for now.

We were just not seeing and customizing the correct widgets in webAppBuilder. 🤦‍ use the following two widgets and you can draw / sketch and then export it out a GeoJSON.

Turn on both the Select widget and the Drawing widget. Whatever you draw with the drawing widget will become a layer that is selectable in you apps TOC.  You can then use the Select widget but make sure to turn on allowing exporting from the options/customization part of the widget. Do this with caution as any layer in your webapp TOC can be then selected and exported out.

Once your drawing is selected you can export it out as GeoJSON file and then convert it to .shp file. There are tons of free websites to convert or just simply run it through ArcGIS Pro to make your .shp file if needed by the client.

👍

Still would be nice in the future and to go the extra step and lets us select .shp as an option for export. Also, limit what layers can and can not be exported for security as part of the enhancement.

One of my friends (ex-ESRI Singapore) showed me this work around 😁
