We have successfully federated the Linux Notebook Server which we build using our home-grown Ansible plus Esri's Chef cookbook.   I.e. we federate successfully from the notebook server, to the arcportal server in our Enterprise.

But when (from our Portal Web Adapter) we use the WebUI to create a new Notebook, we always see

Your active notebook session has unexpectedly lost connectivity. Try reconnecting the notebook kernel from the 'Kernel' menu and selecting the 'Reconnect' option.

If the connection is no longer available and kernel reconnection fails, any unsaved changes to the notebook will be lost. Please refresh this page to reopen the notebook in its last saved state.

On the notebook server (on which a web-adaptor is co-located), we observe that a Docker container gets spawned.   But that's as far as we get.

We've seen some misc 304 and 400 errors in logs, but no clear smoking guns.

We see historical links from a couple of years ago of users with similar errors, but no resolution.

@BenJackson can you share with us what you learned two years ago in https://community.esri.com/t5/arcgis-online-questions/notebook-on-arcgis-online-unexpectedly/td-p/11... in your communications with Esri Support?   Or perhaps some from Esri can follow those bread crumbs in your internal database, and report-back here?
