A new update (v3.1.1) for ArcGIS Maps for Adobe Creative Cloud is now available! This update includes a fix for the issue of AIX files not opening with the latest Illustrator updates version 26.3.1 [BUG-000149457]. It also includes the support for Illustrator on Apple silicon M1 in native mode.

NOTE: This update doesn't support Adobe Illustrator 2021 (v25.3) and earlier or Photoshop 2020. Please do not update if you need to continue using these earlier versions. Instead, you are recommended to continue using version 3.1.0. Learn more about the supported versions for your operating system.

Steps for installation:

  1. Close Illustrator & Photoshop.
  2. Use the Creative Cloud Desktop app to update Illustrator or Photoshop to a supported version.
  3. Download the update from Esri product website.
  4. Double click the downloaded setup file (.exe) for Windows and (.pkg) for macOS. Follow instructions on the installer to complete the setup.
  5. Note: If you install Illustrator or Photoshop after installing the plugin update, uninstall and reinstall ArcGIS Maps for Adobe to ensure proper functioning.

For more information about the product, please visit help. Please continue the conversations on our forums or contact Esri Technical Support if you encounter any issues. You can also post ideas on the ArcGIS Ideas site to help the team make our application better.

Thank you.

If this runs in M1 native mode, why does the plug-in installation include installing Rosetta?

Hello @JakesTrek,

Thank you for reaching out to the team. We are able to reproduce the issue and will look for a solution to update our pkg installer. To clarify, while the installer currently asks to install rosetta first (if it is not installed previously), once installed the plug-in actually runs in Apple silicon native mode.

Hope this answers your question,

Hello ESRI Team: Adobe has made available (Sunday 23 October 2022, 10:50 a.m. my time of writing this) updates to Illustrator calling it Illustrator 23 (version 27.0). It will not recognize the current plug-in nor does re-installing the Windows plug-in from ESRI get picked-up by Illustrator. When might this be addressed by ESRI? The new Illustrator has one tool that is most helpful for designers and from that vantage point worth updating. However, one now has to revert to exporting items from ArcGIS Pro using PDF files and being very intentional as they bring across layers. When AIX works it is an excellent product. Thank you and best wishes, rod schubert

Hello @RodrickSchubert

The team is aware of the compatibility issue of Maps for Adobe 3.2 with the latest 2023 update from Adobe apps. We are working on a new version to address the problem. Please see the announcement for detail. https://community.esri.com/t5/arcgis-maps-for-adobe-creative-cloud-blog/adobe-creative-cloud-2023-co...

Sorry for the inconvenience,

Hello @Xingdong_Zhang

I am having an issue with Illustrator 28.6 not loading ArcGIS Maps for Adobe Creative Cloud.  A login sized window appears but then an error states "Missing Required Components: ArcGIS Maps for Adobe Creative Cloud is missing a required component.  Click 'Repair' to launch the installer and follow the instructions to repair the application.
Please restart Illustrator after installation/repair is complete."

I do that process and the error dialog returns.

Hello @AndrewBarker3, Could you please share some information about your system, including OS, version, language/locale, and location of your Illustrator installation so that the team can investigate the issue? Meanwhile,  you may try to uninstall ArcGIS Maps for Adobe from the Add/Remove Programs and reinstall it completely. If you keep receiving the same error, try to install the application using the per-user option instead of per-machine. Hope that helps
