ARCGis Image Server Client Add-On for MicroStation (is this the place?)

I have installed the ARCGIS Image Server Client Add-on for MicroStation (both V8 and XM).  Within MicroStation, the "Image Server MicroStation Client" dialog box comes up, which presumably is supposed to allow me to "Add Image Server Connections".  It looked like I needed an .ISRef file, so I found an example and entered what is supposed to be the URL (to which we subscribe) ImageService://services.arcgisonline.com/ArcGIS/services/World_Imagery/MapServer;

however, after a pause of approx 1 minute, I get no image results.  I suspect several things: 1) missing supporting ARCGis software on my workstation that did not come with the Add-on, 2) the connection needs subscription information or other authentication, 3) I have no boundary extents or other layer information, 4) format of the ISRef file is incorrect,  5) the URL is incorrect.

I cannot find any supporting documentation that describes the requirements for making a remote Image Server connection via this mechanism, so I am flying blind, and others here appear to know even less.  Is there help out there for these Image Server Client Add-ons?  Do I need more supporting software on the workstation besides the "MicroStation Client 9.31" setup.exe install program? I do have .NET 2.0, but no other ARCGis software.

Any help is appreciated.

Hi,
for my experience this link ://services.arcgisonline.com/ArcGIS/services/World_Imagery/MapServer it's only for Arcgis desktop and ArcGis explorer.

ehwn program ask "add Image Server Connections" I think would the link where you install Image Server.

But I have experience only with Image Server, not with MicroStation.
Hope help you

Hi,

The link you are trying to access is a link to an ArcGIS server service. If you go into ArcGIS , click on Add data and add an ArcGIS Server connection (Type in this URL http://services.arcgisonline.com/ArcGIS/services) you will be able to add the service to ArcGIS. This is not an ArcGIS Image Server connection.

The Microstaion client you are using is for direct connect (to ArcGIS Image Server) services only.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
Randall
