Text cards should have a halo option for better readability. Since the crop on background images adjusts automatically as screen size changes, there's no guarantee that any text will always be legible over an image. A halo option (with hard/soft edge options) would solve this.

In my case, I used the tag "text-shadow" in the html config in my title to achive the effect you are talking about:
text-shadow: black 0.1em 0.1em 0.4em

Yeah, thanks @arc_ticodex I was aware of the custom CSS option that Sites/Hub provides but this is far too basic functionality that ESRI should provide (especially since they provided it in other products like Classic Storymaps. Forcing users to resort to custom CSS is always a recipe for disaster.
