In June 2024, user types were updated across Esri technology to streamline licensing and better align with customers’ needs. Accordingly, to more closely match user types with the needs of Hub community members, an updated Hub Community Member user type will go into effect with the ArcGIS Online update in February 2025. This update will happen automatically, and user types will continue to facilitate workflows and productivity.
With the ArcGIS Online February 2025 update, all existing Creator user type community accounts in Hub community organizations will be automatically updated to the Hub Community Member user type. This change will take effect automatically and will not require action by the individual community members or by the organization holding the ArcGIS Hub Premium license. In addition, any content or groups community members have created will not be affected. Please note that this user type is for community organizations in ArcGIS Hub Premium subscriptions only.
How will this change take effect?

What actions do I need to take as an Administrator?
Currently, some Creator user types in each Hub community organization have been assigned Administrator roles to be able to administer the Hub community organization. To continue to serve these individuals, three Creator user types will be provided per Hub community organization to maintain the administrative needs of the Hub community organization. Administrators should assign themselves the full Creator user types we are providing.
How many Administrator roles can be assigned in the Hub community organization?
While we have included three Creator user types along with the updated Hub Community Member user types, there is no restriction on the number of Administrator roles that can be assigned. The updated Hub Community Member user type can also be assigned the Administrator role.
While it is possible for any Hub community organization Administrator to change the role settings on any Hub Community Member user type from 'publisher' to 'administrator,' it is recommended to reserve the Administrator role to only those who require the additional privileges associated with it.
