Hello. I’m trying to search for a publicly available set of layers from the Government of Canada using the ArcGIS for PowerBI visual. When I search by the group ID while not signed in (guest mode), the group and its layers do not appear in the search results.
If I sign into my ArcGIS Online account in Power BI, I can find the group and access its layers without issue. The layers themselves don’t seem to be the problem — I can locate the same open data layers directly in ArcGIS Online without signing in.
Has anyone experienced this before, or run into a similar issue?
Thank you,
Hi @LeslieUK
Here's the link of the layer group in ArcGIS Online: https://www.arcgis.com/home/search.html?restrict=false&sortField=relevance&sortOrder=desc&searchTerm...
I've also attached a screenshot of the searching results of the logged in and guest accounts
Thanks
It is almost as if ArcGIS for PowerBI is filtering out things it *may not be able to use - mapservices/imageservices/mapimageservices from an ArcGIS Server environment (non-hosted). However the use case here is that we have a wealth of well structured, curated Geographic Information we want to share (backdrops visualizations only, and integrated analysis data) with our growing community of PowerBI users across the organization.
Hi @STAW0657,
Thank you for your question! And thank you @LeslieUK and @JamesAshton for your help!
For guest users, only public feature layers are available for them;
For ArcGIS users, ArcGIS for Power BI will support much more: Living atlas, ArcGIS Online and layers from your org. The layer types supported include: feature layers, map image layers, web maps, imagery layers, vector tile layers and WFS.
So that's why when you are a guest user, you only see part of the layers returned and all of the results when sign in to ArcGIS.
Please let me know if you have more questions! Thank you!
