Please enable the join layer functionality even when the widget's settings pane is not open. It currently only operates as expected when the join layer is open, which requires dashboard users to go through 4-5 menus to get to this option. This is not reasonable to expect a dashboard viewer/non gis user to do.
I would like the users to use filters on the rest of the dashboards page and have the map filter to the joined features, without having to set it up each time.
Fully agree too, this is preventing us from fully recommending the ESRI plug in as the corporate solution for mapping in Power BI. End users of published dashboards aren't going to manage to find the Join layer tool and it obscures most of the map unless you make the map much bigger than you'd generally want if its embedded with other data and items in the dashboard..
Jumping on the bandwagon here, though a little late to the party. Having the same experience and issues and while I want to fly the flag for ArcGIS, with this current limitation my company will invest in other solutions. Anyone at esri able to provide an update?
Full agreement with everyone here, it's this missing functionality that's holding us back from implementing solutions with ArcGIS and PowerBI. Sorting this out ASAP should be top on the list for developers.
Same problem here!
It is a shame that an error of this nature deprives you of the use of one of the most attractive features of the tool.
Regards!
Good morning all!
Thank you for your patience on this issue. As mentioned in previous posts, this was something that the team had been working on and we know had been a massive pain point for everyone (us included).
I am happy to announce that the latest version of ArcGIS for Power BI has started its deployment process and should be rolled out to all regions over the next few weeks.
One of the biggest changes outside of UI/UX enhancements, is the ability to use the Join Layer widget without having the window open. Take a look at the animation below. I can now make selections and filter the layer and Power BI data without the need to have the window open.
We will be making additional enhancements to the Join Layer widget, but we thought this was a great start!
