Issue with Raster Data Quality when rotated in Civil3D from ArcGIS Enterprise Portal

Hello everyone,

I'm encountering a specific issue with displaying raster data (Imagery Layer) from my ArcGIS Enterprise Portal within AutoCAD Civil 3D. The imagery appears fine when aligning the map view to standard orientations like North, East, South, or West. However, when the map is rotated by angles that are not multiples of 90°, the image quality noticeably degrades.

To provide a clearer picture of what I'm experiencing, I have attached two screenshots: one where the map is oriented to North (showing good image quality) and another on the same zoom level showing the reduced quality when rotated to a non-standard angle.

Has anyone else faced this issue? Could you share any insights on what might be causing this and if there are any settings or workarounds to mitigate this issue?

I appreciate any help or suggestions you can offer.

Best regards, Steffen

Hi @SteffenBischoff,

Thanks for posting this question. As a potential workaround for these instances, you can:

  • Right-click on an imagery layer in your drawing
  • Click Extract

This will create a PNG of the current view of that imagery layer. The PNG is stored in the same location as the DWG you're working in.

For example, here's what the extracted PNG looks like for some world imagery when in the North orientation and when rotated between North and East:
