Multiple choice option in Field Maps

I'd like to have a multiple choice option in Fieldmaps. The current version of Field Maps (Oct 2021) has  limited options for data collection. When collecting an attribute value I sometimes need people to fill in multiple values form the same domain list. I'd like them to be able to select multiple values from the combobox or radio buttons. 

I'm hoping this function will be added with the new function of creating elements form scratch (kinda like the different options in de survey123, preferably the Multiple Choice) but also not like that, because I need them to use my domain values and not create a new field.

Does anyone have a smart workaround for this in the meantime?

Hi All,

I am trying to implement @JustinReynolds method in one of our forms. I was able to populate the list and clear it, but the editable expression does not work. I am trying to find how to get the Conditional visibility field, but I can't.  There is the visibility option, but when I put the code here, it just hides the field except if I select the Manual Entry. Maybe form UI changed since the time he posted his solution.

Also would be very beneficial for inspecting-type forms we have rather than a "explain more in text box" option which requires the user to then enter freehand text. It seems this has been brought up 5 years ago. What's the hold up??
