hi,
Meanwhile congratulations to the new forum, but know that many old threads have been deleted.
Then propose again the problem:
I can not view maps in 3D. Every time I switch from 2D to 3D program crashes and the only solution is to close. Also I get an error saying: "you have experienced problems during the final 3D visualization, sure to continue?".
What causes this problem? Basemap is already impossible to access (because the connection is via a proxy server in my company), at least I was hoping to use the map in 3D.
The problem is due more to the proxy?
the video card drivers are updated, OS: Win Vista, 4Gb RAM.
thanks for the answers

I can't share my data, but I created a new feature class in a new file geodatabase and associated layer files that exhibit the same problem (see attachment).  It appears that it only hangs when I bring up multiple layer files created with the method from this ArcGIS Explorer Blog entry: Authoring layer packages that look great in 3D.  Layer files without the 3D properties don't look how I want, but at least they don't crash the program!

Peter,

Many thanks for the sample data - unfortunately I am unable to reproduce the problem with this specific data on ArcGIS Explorer 1500 final.

We do however have some other sample data with which does exhibit the problem.

I am having the same problem, where the just downloaded ArcGIS Explorer Desktop (AGX) is crashing when going to 3d from 2D.

This is a New Laptop and I am moving from an XP machine to a Win 7 machine. I have downloaded and installed the graphics card drivers from HP. rebooted, uninstalled AGX, rebooted, reinstalled AGX, and opened the default map and still i hae the problem.

What now?

Best Regards,

ArcGIS Explorer Desktop runs fine on my relatively new HP Elitebook 8540p, but the problem on an HP EliteBook 2540p. This has Intel HD Graphics, meaning there is no graphics card; the graphics processor is integrated with the chip. See link.

http://www.intel.com/technology/graphics/intelhd.htm

Google Earth works fine on the 2540, but not AGX Explorer.

ArcGIS Explorer runs fine in 2D with no problem but crashes when trying to run in 3D.

Initially right as the button for 3d is pressed it was locking up, but now it is asking if I want to display in 2D, since it is had problems with 3d last time.

All prerequisites were installed, both are Windows 7 32 bit with all updates.

4 Gigs of Ram, and an Intel i5 540

Based on post #10 above I ran the hardware check at http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Default.aspx, and it passes with flying colors.

There are not many comments about this problem online, except this thread; does this (Intel HD Graphics) qualify as a known issue?

anyone? Bueller?

It will not let him test 3D in explored options - resources - 3d speed test. . . it doesn't give him the option.

Again, Google Earth works fine. . .

Hi, any updates on this?  I've been hunting the internet for several hours without any luck.

Intel(r) HD Graphics
Driver Date: 7/28/2010
Driver Version: 8.15.10.2189

I like using AGX, so any work-arounds or solutions welcomed 😃

Just though that I would add that I had the same issues with 3D view not working as those identified above.  I too have the Intel HD Graphics integrated system.

I have recently downloaded additional drivers as identified by running the test at http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Default.aspx

The 3D view now works with the updated drivers - however the 3D view is very very slow.  not sure if this is an issue with the setup machine I have or something else but thought I would share my experience with others.

Same problem here.

Using the system requirements labs tool (showing reccomended settings)

Running a Core2Duo e8400 with 4 gigs of ram on Windows 7 x64bit

Intel Q45/Q43 Express Chipset
Video Ram  1.7gb
3D: Yes
Hardware T&L Yes
Pixel shader version: 4.0
Vertex Shader Version 4.0

As soon as 3d is selected, the graphics window just freezes (but the application as a whole does not crash)
