Hello,

I'm running into an issue with the Experience Builder Foldable theme template, specifically the Search parameter.

I've chosen to "Interact with a Map widget", enabled "Customize search sources", and selected "New search source" from "Layer source".

The layer I would like to use as a "Set layer source" is not listed amongst my other layers, however, this layer is part of my web map.

Has anyone else run into this issue?  If so, your advice and guidance would be most appreciated.

Thank you.

JD

Hi @JD1016 ,

What is the layer type? If you can share your data, that would be very helpful in identifying the problem.

Thanks,

Shengdi

Hi Shengdi,

Thank you for responding to my post.

The layer type is vector (feature).  Specifically, it is a point layer of transformers.  I wish I could share the actual data, but since it is a utility layer, I am prohibited.  However, aside from transformers, there are 16 other layers that are also not viewable in Search.  One of them is Anchor Guy, which I can share with the group.  I have attached a zip file containing the anchor guy feature class along with a screen shot of my transformer layer and part of its corresponding attribute table.  Hope this helps.

Hi @JD1016,

What is the service type, is it a map service contains a layer with subtypes?

Thanks,

Ke

Hi Ke,

It is a map service.  It's funny you should mention "subtypes".  I was comparing the properties of two layers yesterday that are closely related attribute wise and came across something.  One has a subtype the other does not.  The one with the subtype does not appear as a layer in Experience Builder (EB) while the other layer appears that is without a subtype.  I then compared all my layers and discovered that the only ones that are NOT showing up in EB Search are those with subtypes. I've attached screenshots of both the Delivery Point and Service Point layers to illustrate the subtype.  This cannot be a coincidence.  This never happened when using WebAppBuilder.

If this is the issue, how can I "make" the Subtype Field <None> and Default Subtype "blank" without losing the Domains I've setup?

Thank you.

Hi @JD1016,

The one with the subtype does not appear as a layer in Experience Builder (EB) while the other layer appears that is without a subtype.

We recently encountered a bug related to the subtype, and it seems you are facing the same issue. BUG-000173271 Unable to access the data that includes subtypes when publishing it as a map image in the Experience Builder.

It will be released on ArcGIS Online at the end of February 2025 and will be fixed on ArcGIS Enterprise 11.5.

I'm not sure how to make the Subtype Field <None> and Default Subtype "blank" without losing the Domains. You could try publishing a feature service instead of a map service to solve this issue.

Thanks,

Ke

Hi Ke,

A BUG would surely explain a lot.  Thank you for passing that along.

I've experimented with one of my layers that contains the "Subtype" field.  The work around I've used is to create another field called "Type", copy all data from Subtype over to that field, create a new feature class, import all the field headings from the original except Subtype, and then proceed to use Load Data from the original to the new feature class.  This new feature class is now without a subtype with all data and domains preserved.

Hopefully the AGO update scheduled for the end of this month will solve the problem and this work around will be academic.

Thanks.

Hi Ke,

Works perfectly now.  All layers are showing within the Search parameter for Experience Builder.

No re-publishing necessary.

Thank you.
