Select Drill Down in the Map Widget

When a user creates a new experience builder and adds a map, the default widget is a selection/popup widget that only selects the top layer. If this can have the ability to drill down to layers that are either visible or all layers similar to the Instant App default, this would help in the ease of use for many implementations we have seen within City government Parcel Information Viewers that we have created. Another option would be to have the selection widget as defaulted to the "point" option. Essentially, this saves extra clicks in order to get information from data layers.

Hi @LelandHenry2,

Clicking a feature in the Map Widget can retrieve popups from all layers.

The Select Widget already supports setting a default tool. This capability was added in the February 2026 release of ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Experience Builder Developer Edition 1.20, and it will also be supported in ArcGIS Enterprise 12.1.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,

Ke

Hi @Ke_Xu

Agreed on the Select Widget default tool. We have this implemented, they were hoping for a few less clicks similar to how Instant Apps works.

The main request is the default select within the map widget does not drill down into the other layers within the map apart from the initial top view layer.

Appreciate it!
