Does anyone know if ArcGIS Server and the Web Adaptor are giving only their owners read access to the log files they create by default?

Is seems the system settings for new files and directories created by that user are being ignored. More importantly, if that is the case, does anyone know where/what we can configure to provide its group with read access as well?

Cheers,

Thanks for the information! Also, yes I prefer to view log in Server Manager, but sometimes you can't get to Server Manager, so you would need to access the logs from that location and hope, maybe the logs give an idea as to what is wrong.

I'm responding to a very old post here; hopefully someone will see this.

We need to be able to track these logs using a log-aggregator, in our case 'splunk'.   It will be simple enough to add the 'splunk' user to the arcgis group.     But the arcgis directories are stored with 700 permissions, and the log files with 600 permissions.

We want to use 750 and 640 permissions, so that a member of the same GROUP can read the files.

How can we override the umask associated with the creation of these log files and their parent directories?
