Is this normal? Map Viewer issue when changing properties on a map image layer

Hi everyone,

I have Enterprise 11.3 and am using services that are map image layers (MIL) in map viewer. My problem is anytime I go in and even change a small setting such as the visibility range of a MIL and save the map, some of the symbology of the layer gets messed up. For example, lines that have custom symbology (arrows showing direction, published from ArcGIS Pro) will turn black with no arrows or color.

Is this normal behavior or a bug? Do you normally have to get all of your settings just right in ArcGIS Pro prior to publishing for a MIL and never change anything in map viewer?

Above it the default view, lines are symbolized.

Above is when everything goes black.

I tested the same workflow in ArcGIS Online with the MIL and nothing bad happens there. So I'm thinking it's a bug of some kind but wanted to see if I'm the only one...

Thank you,

Jon

I recommend reviewing this defect, which was addressed in ArcGIS Enterprise 11.5. The behavior you’re seeing may be related to this issue.

@RobertCao This is exactly what has been happening to me!

Thank you for providing the information. Glad to see it's been resolved in 11.5 and is something to look forward to when we update.
