Does ArcGIS Enterprise 11.x support changing Portal's URL?

So, a couple of years ago I submitted a post asking if there was a way to change the public url of Portal.  I work with many companies using ArcGIS Enterprise, and this not an uncommon need.

Of course I was informed this was not supported because Portal stores its full url deep in the bowels of its configuration. The recommendation was to "simply" rebuild the Portal from scratch.

I'm hoping Esri has finally realized that this is completely unacceptable for "Enterprise" level software.  The amount of effort required to rebuild all the web maps and apps is mind-boggling.

Please, someone tell me this has been addressed in 11.x

Will datastore automatically detect a change if I update the url of my hosting server? The documentation doesn't seem to mention it.

@JonSwoveland - I want to clarify that although you cannot change the webadaptor name as mentioned in my reply above, you can change the Portal Service URL if you follow the article below.

Oh! Thanks for following-up.  I'm still a bit unclear on what you are saying.  Specifically, when you refer to the "Portal Service URL".  What is the Portal Service URL?

The scenario I am thinking of:

Current State:

Portal URL: https://host.mydomain.com/portal/
Federated ArcGIS Server Url: https://host.mydomain.com/server/

Target State:

Portal URL: https://host.myNEWdomain.com/portal/

Federated ArcGIS Server Url: https://host.myNEWdomain.com/server/

In the above scenario, the webadapter names have not changed, but Portal's URL, and ArcGIS Server's URL have both changed.

Thanks again!

A) For Portal

Article - How To: Update the Service URLs of Portal Items in a Federated ArcGIS Enterprise Deploymen...

An item’s URL is used to represent web-accessible items, such as map services, stored in ArcGIS Enterprise. For example, a map service can be embedded in ArcGIS Experience Builder using the map service’s URL. In some instances, such as moving services from one machine to another, the item’s URL needs to be updated to reflect the new machine’s hostname.

This article provides two methods used to update the service URLs of portal items in a federated ArcGIS Enterprise deployment.

C) For ArcGIS Data Store
