Using png in ArcGIS 10?

Hi,

I understand that ArcGIS 10.1 now supports .png files to be used a symbols in maps.  My question is whether it's possible to use a .png symbol in 10? Is there any work around to this? There are many  nice symbols in .png but I am using 10.

I know you posted this a while back, just wondering if you found any solution to using png in ArcGIS 10. The only method I know is to somehow convert the png to emf then add it to the Picture Marker Symbol via the Style Manager. For me, the output was still somewhat undesirable because of the white background that comes with the picture.
