This is a simple question that may have an easy answer that is eluding me.... but I would like to grant others the ability to make updates and save my Web Map (ArcGIS Portal 10.5.1 though I'd be curious on AGO also), as opposed to allowing them the right ot "Save As" to a new map?

 Can we do this? Thanks!!

Hi Greg,

You can place the web map in a group with the "allow members to update all items in the group" options checked. Please see this help topic,

Create groups—Portal for ArcGIS (10.5.x) | ArcGIS Enterprise

(step 6 - under Create a group)

This option is also available in ArcGIS Online.

Hope this helps,

Thanks Derek... reading that page, this can only be set up when the group is initially created.  I had already created that group, which is why I didn't see it in the settings....   I'll create a new group tonight when the folks are out of the field and use this setting!

Is there a way to access this feature after a group has been created? Is there any other way to allow someone else to update a webmap through the Custom Roles?  Thanks, LTK

Hi Tim,

> Is there a way to access this feature after a group has been created?

No, this feature needs to be 'activated' when the Group is created.

Hope this helps,

This limitation doesn't make sense.  I've added it to the Ideas page:
