How do display a time series by year in Dashboard?

Hello,

I am wondering how to configure a selector (category or date) to allow a choice of year? I am trying to display precipitation data by year from 1981-2018 on my dashboard. When I choose date selector, there doesn't seem to be an option to just have the year (no days or months). What can I do to have it just give the year as a selection choice to display the data? Might there be a tutorial specific to showing annual time series on a dashboard?

Hi, there are two options that I can think of:

1. create a field that stores only year and filter like this: 

Category Selector

Or filter manually the year with the calendar, like this:

Date Selector

(my sample filters by month, but same concept)
