Hello,
I am facing perhaps a common issue with filtering in dashboards. I have two lists (A and B) from the same feature class but with different filtering. I have a third list (C) from the same feature class. When I select something in List A it filters out List C. This is correct behavior and everything is fine. But when I select a record in List B, the List C will not show anything because there is still an active selection in List A. So I have to either unselect everything first or refresh the dashboard. Is the a solution to this? Some of our dashboards have 3-4 list widgets and it is not always easy to remember is anything was selected in some of this lists. Thus leading to misinterpretation of the data when people suddenly see "No data" just because there is active selection in more than one list widget.
Yes, you are facing a common issue with dashboard filtering. Dashboards filter well but there isn't an 'indicator' showing that a filter is active. There are a couple of ways to perhaps mitigate this.
1. Have a gauge widget that shows total records and then selected records. This will let the user know that there is a filter in place. (label these values too)
2. Allow dashboard reset so users can reset all the filters easily:
3. Put really good info in a splash window to explain how to use the dashboard.
These are just some ideas that could help.
I also forgot to mention changing the wording of the "No Data" to something more valuable to the user:
