If anyone has encountered this issue or knows how to avoid the initial display of all records in dashboard, please share your insights.

Details:

I am facing an issue in the Forest Fire Monitor dashboard. The Acquisition Date filter is already set to “Today” by default. However, when the dashboard loads when refreshed, all forest fire data points appear on the map for a few seconds, and then the view updates to show only today’s records.

  • I have also enabled “Render only when filtered” on the Forest Fire map layer, but the issue still occurs during the initial load. We are using enterprise 11.4 version.

Expected Behavior: Since the Today filter is applied by default, the dashboard should load showing only today’s data, without displaying all historical records at any time.

Actual Behavior: Dashboard loads with Today filter already selected. All fire records briefly appear on the map

I’ve seen something similar in our dashboards. In 11.2, I have a dashboard set up to show a date as “None” or “Last Year” by default, and while I don’t have “Render only when filtered” enabled, there is a brief blip where all the data appears before the filter applies. This is when first opening the app again.

From my experience, that split-second display of all records is usually just the dashboard processing and loading the data. I think it’s more of a loading artifact than a configuration issue, so there may not be a reliable way to prevent it entirely.

To get around it you could filter your map in map viewer that way there is no extra step within the dashboard.
