Is there a way to create a trend or average line in a serial chart? I know you can create a guide line, but that's not quite what I'm looking for. I know in ArcGIS Insights you can create a line to show the average of the chart, but since Insights is being retired I'm trying to avoid creating new items with it. Below is an screenshot of the Insights chart with the average line. Thanks for any help!

Hi @michael_vetter

Can you attempt this workflow to see if it works for you?

  1. Open ArcGIS Dashboards: Start by opening your dashboard or creating a new one.

  2. Add a Serial Chart:

    • Click on the Add button and select Serial Chart from the list of elements.
    • Choose the data source you want to use for the chart.
  3. Configure the Data:

    • In the Data tab, set the Categories from to the field that represents your x-axis (e.g., time, categories).
    • For the Statistic field, select Average to calculate the average value for your y-axis data.
    • Choose the field that contains the values you want to average.
  4. Customize the Series:

    • Go to the Series tab and set the Type to Line to display the data as a line chart.
    • You can add multiple series if needed, each representing different data points or calculations.
  5. Add Guides (Optional):

    • If you want to highlight the average line, you can add a guide. In the Guides section, add a new guide and set its value to the average you want to display.
    • Customize the appearance of the guide to make it stand out.
  6. Save and View:

    • Once you have configured the chart, save your dashboard.
    • The serial chart will now display the average line along with your data points.

Thanks for the reply! I followed your workflow and it does create an average line; however, I was wanting to show this line on top of my other data. You mention adding multiple series, but I don't see that option. Maybe I didn't format the chart correctly to see that ability.
