Collecting assets using a single service with multiple asset layers

I'm looking for advice on whether it is advisable to group multiple(11) dissimilar asset layers into a single service to use in collector?  Typically those that configure the AGOL maps for consumption in Collector will only use a single layer per map.  By having all of the layers in a single service is it going to cause an issue with multiple field users editing single layers of this single service?

We are experiencing issues with downloading the base maps to the mobile devices when using layers from this service. Could this be the cause?

There shouldn't be any issues with the setup you are talking about. The only thing that you might want to think about is the security aspect for that setup. The layers within the service will all have the same sharing access, so if you wanted to restrict one of the layers from a certain group you would be unable to do this. If each of the layers was its own service you can have finer grain control on this.

This setup should not impact the downloading of basemaps.
