Hello Cityengine team,

Actually, I am evaluating Cityengine 2012.1 to know if this software fit our needs as I am in charge of planning to build an industrial estate area for the driving simulation company I work for.
The main issue I observe is the way how a road network can't perform a very precise road merging/dividing operation to simulate entry/ exit of motorway/ highways for example (see screenshot).

In CE, manipulating node tangents to perform this causes a topology error (see screenshot).

Maybe I missed something but despite the tutorials I practiced (Paris, Philadelphia, Modern streets,...), merging roads seem to be unvailable. If this is the case, is this feature planned soon ?

Thanks for your answer.

Hi !

Merging lanes indeed are not yet really supported, sadly. The main issue is that CE creates Streets based on centerlines which combine all lanes in 1 big shape, which then is split or textured into the smaller lanes.

So Streets which fan out are possible, but merging lanes or such are not precisely possible.

This has been on the wishlist for quite some time now. So I hope this will be tackled soon-ish.

Let me know if you have more questions !
