Hi
CE keep crashing when I try to generate a big chunk of models.
I tried allocating 16 of my 28 GB of RAM to CE in the CityEngine.ini (Xmx16G) to make sure I don't run out of JAVA memory, but it still crashes.
Here below I added my hs_err file.
Can someone help me figure out how and if these crashes can be solved?
Thanks !
Carla
In some old versions of CE I had specific models muck up the whole generation because of texture issues. Try generating sections to see if a single model is the cause. Select half the models, generate, select the other half generate. If either makes CE crash, divide that half again and proceed.
Hi.
I have the exact same problem!
# EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION (0xc0000005)
I can select huge portions of my city and generate the models ok, but it does crashes after 2 seconds on others.
If I generate the models one at a time it works, if I select the SAME models all together it crashes .
Any suggestion on how to solve this texture issue?
Many Thanks
A
Hi Carla and Abele,
can you please confirm, this happens with CityEngine 2018.0?
It includes a bugfix, that deals with a crash that matches your description.
Thank you

Hi Thomas, thanks for the reply!
Do you mean there is a solution?
No apparently not. I'd like to analyze your scene and cga rules. I've sent you a private message.
Thomas Fuchs, I solved the problem. Apparently it was not texture related but Graph Related!
There was a portion of the street network that was causing the crashes during model generation. I deleted those segments and remade it and now it all works fine
