Services not appearing after period of inactivity

I have development SFV application that is running fine with all local layers, but after a period of inactivity, only the viewer will load without any layers.  If I go into the REST services page, I can individually load the services into the Javascript viewer just fine.  After doing that and restarting the SOM service (just for good measure, not sure if it actually has any effect) the Flex viewer will usually work just fine.  But this is unworkable in a production application.  Anyone have any wisdom to share about this?

Bill,

Flex Viewer (no longer SFV, just for information sake) questions should be posted to the Flex Viewer forum here:

http://forums.arcgis.com/forums/111-ArcGIS-Viewer-for-Flex

But the issue you are describing is know as the sleeping service syndrome. and there are a couple work-around solutions if you are not using ArcGIS Server 10.

look at this thread:

I am using ArcGIS Server 10.  Any ways to deal with that?  And I will also post to the Flex Viewer Forum.

Robert, saw your post on the flex viewer forum about this "syndrome", so I will give that a try.

Thanks!
